Custom Order Process
We are dedicated to delivering the finest woodworking products and services to our customers. Begin your custom order by reviewing the design choices outlined below, and then complete the inquiry form with your specific requirements.
1.
Type of Furniture
While tables are certainly our specialty, our offerings extend far beyond. Our repertoire includes conference tables, dining tables, dinette tables, coffee tables, sofa tables, console tables, and live edge tables. For those who work from home or in offices, we also craft desks. Additionally, we provide countertops, bar tops, shelving, cutting boards, coasters, and more. If you have a specific item in mind that isn't listed here, please don't hesitate to contact us. We're eager to discuss your ideas and create something unique just for you."
2.
Wood Species
Each species of hardwood has a distinct color and grain pattern. For a deep, rich hue, we recommend Black Walnut, one of our most popular choices. Other local species such as Maple, Oak, Hickory, Elm, and Ash offer finishes in light brown, tan, and yellow tones. For more information, consult our Wood Species Guide. Certain species are more rare, particularly in large sizes (over 30" wide and 9' long) or unique slabs (rounds/cookies, burl, specific edge patterns), which we can discuss when reviewing your overall design and budget.
3.
Style of Top
Do you prefer the natural look of solid wood or a splash of color for a more eccentric feel? For tabletops, we custom make everything by hand using premium, locally sourced hardwoods. Check our Design Styles Guide for more details. If solid wood or wood with epoxy accents appeals to you, you can choose either a single large slab (size permitting) or join multiple slabs to achieve the desired width.
4.
Product Size
When determining the size of your new custom furniture piece, consider the dimensions of the room or wall, desired seating capacity, base design, and how you'll bring it into your home. For dining tables, 24" of space per chair is recommended, and a table width of 38”-42" is generally comfortable. As we develop your design, we'll review all these factors to determine the perfect size. To begin, feel free to share your preferred dimensions.
5.
Base/Leg Style
Structural integrity is crucial, so we pair our live edge tops with durable steel bases. These bases, crafted by our trusted manufacturers, can be customized in terms of shape, steel type (tubed or flat bar), color (including powder-coating and clear finishes), and size to match the desired style of the tabletop. Each option adds its unique touch to the live edge furniture piece. Upon receiving your inquiry, we'll guide you through these choices and provide our base product guide for your selection. If you have a specific base design in mind, feel free to share photos, and we'll do our best to accommodate your preferences.
6.
Table Top / Slab Character
Are you seeking a standard straight edge table top or a live edge slab with a specific design style? Straight edge tables are most commonly built with few to no knots present. If knots are present they are always sealed and filled with epoxy (Customer Color Choice).
Slabs are available in various shapes and sizes, from traditional rectangular slabs to round "cookie" slabs and those with burl or curved edges. Let us know your preferences. Our local slab supplier offers thousands of options, and we also collaborate with out-of-state suppliers for exceptionally rare slabs such as Claro Walnut. Photos can help us understand your vision, so feel free to share any examples you find during your online searches.
